Paul Hobbs Winery is thrilled to announce that their 2021 Paul Hobbs Nathan Coombs Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has received a perfect score from Decanter Magazine. Decanter’s Napa correspondent, Jonathan Cristaldi, awarded the 100 points to the bottle.
Hobbs purchased the pristine 68-acre Coombsville vineyard in 2012, making it his first acquisition outside Sonoma County, where Hobbs established himself as a vintner. In a press release, Hobbs said, “Since 1996, when I began sourcing fruit from the Coombsville area, I have believed in the quality potential of this unique corner of southeastern Napa Valley. With over 30 years of boots on the ground, one can learn the character of the place and begin to see what is and is not possible. My team and I are grateful and truly honored to receive the region’s highest recognition yet for this flagship varietal as we continue to build on our vision for this historic piece of land and community.”
Hobbs joins a small handful of Coombsville Vintners & Growers members who have won a coveted 100-point score. Last year, Arrow&Branch received 100 points for their Coombsville Cabernet Franc from wine critic Jeb Dunnuck. The wine is 100% estate fruit grown on their Coombsville vineyard.
The Setting Wine's Glass Slipper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, another Coombsville-grown bottle, was awarded 100 points from Owen Bargreen, who described the wine as “astonishingly good with poise, flavor density, richness, and flavor range.”
Together, this trio of 100-point reds further solidifies Coombsville as an AVA with world-class potential worthy of competing on the global stage.
